Clef Club Student - Haley Joyner will Open Fall Concert "All Women All Jazz"!

DivaNation PHILLY proudly announces that our Fall 2017 Student Diva, Haley Joyner, will be opening our September 15th "All Women, All Jazz" Concert at the Philadelphia Clef Club!
Haley Joyner is a new member of Philadelphia’s long history of producing young lions in the genre of Jazz. Born on September 17, 2002 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Haley is the younger of her 2 siblings.
Ever since her parents can remember, Haley has always had a love for music whether it is Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Classical etc. Her parents Cheryl and Harold fondly recall her saying that she has an old soul. She started out her conceptual love for music playing violin in elementary and middle schools, and gradually grasping onto other instruments such as the trumpet and piano. While learning the piano, she discovered she had her own unique voice.
Haley has always had a passion for creativity such as drawing, writing songs, rap music and now Jazz. Haley receives vocal and instrumental instruction at the legendary Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and the Performing Arts, beginning there in October 2016 at the behest of a musical mentor, her trumpet teacher Ms. Taylor at Bache Martin Middle School in Philadelphia School District.
Since then Haley has performed at numerous locations such as the African American Museum, The View, and in other city venues. Haley has recently received a scholarship at the Jazz Legacy Awards to continue her training at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and the Performing Arts.
Haley has many artists that she is inspired by: Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sade, John Coltrane and many more... Haley has a quote that she lives by from Billie Holiday…
"You can't copy anybody and end with anything. If you copy, it means you're working without any real feeling. No two people on earth are alike, and it's got to be that way in music or it isn't music.”
